Lion King Shatters Its Own Box Office Record on Broadway

Posted by Robert Gibson On December - 1 - 2010

“The Lion King” from Disney once again reigns at Minskoff Theatre on Broadway.

The long running production, over Thanksgiving’s holiday week, shattered the previous Minskoff box office record with its $1,870,145 in earnings over eight sell out performances over Thanksgiving week from November 22-28. The new record topped the previous one by over $130,000, which “The Lion King” also set during the week ending on January 3, 2010.

This beloved production isn’t showing any signs that it is slowing down. “The Lion King,” currently in its fourteenth Broadway season, last year recorded its highest fiscal year gross ever. For a show that has been around this long, that’s unprecedented.
